Bus Drives for Charity

Southwest business continues to support the annual Joe Way Paddle for Life event which is being held on the 15th of September at Newquay harbour.

A green Western Greyhound double decker bus will advertise the Joe Way appeal and will be driving around its routes in Cornwall, bringing the Cornish toddlers story to new people. Western Greyhound is a Newquay-based family-run business that has been operating since 1998. It now runs an extensive bus network throughout Cornwall and into Devon, offering services which frequently connect together to provide excellent journey opportunities in the region.

Joe’s dad, Matt, asked Mark Howarth, MD from Western Greyhound, if he would give the £2000 worth of advertising space as a donation. The company has already supported the late toddler’s story and Mark once again agreed to help.

Mark Howarth said; “We have worked with Hendra Holiday Park since we started our business in 1998 and it was therefore a pleasure to become involved in Joe’s charity. As our bus travels around Cornwall, I hope it will be an encouragement to others to also support this worthwhile cause”.

The artwork was designed by paddle media designer Scott Dickinson. One of the main sponsors for the Paddle, Perranporth Signs who has donated materials and fitted the signage.

Paul Hutchinson, owner of Perranporth Signs, said; “We have been touched by Joe’s story and it’s great to be part of an event that raises money for 20 charities, you only have to read or watch Joe’s story on the website and you want to get up do something to help others”.

Matt Way, Joe’s dad, said; “The response to our son’s story helps us on a daily basis to deal with his loss we love the bus idea as the smaller adverting Western Greyhound donated always put a smile on my face as a bus would go pass, it’s a great commercial asset to advertise this way so as a family telling the story of one small boy we are grateful of the generosity of local businesses who bring Joe’s story to so many new people”.
